COVID-19 Is Here – Action Plan Missing.

Dear Editor/Newsroom,

Urgent action is needed! Now that the Virus is here FFOS congratulates PM Rowley in taking immediate action to close schools and universities, but is it too little too late? In light of this COVID-19 pandemic, we appeal to our government to follow the example of regional and international leaders and

1. Close OUR WIDE borders. Suriname closes its airport at midnight tonight. 2. Immediately suspend ALL rents, interest, loans and mortgage payments until the economy can stabilize.
3. Shut down the entire nation for a specific period until the pandemic can be contained.
4. Affirmative action in the form of a socio-economic plan needs to be drafted and put into action to safeguard our most vulnerable citizens from the effects of this global pandemic. Urgent action is needed.
