Consultation Extension Granted
Date: April 18th, 2018
Dear Editor/Newsroom,
Please see attached for a voice recording of this statement.
National Infrastructure Development Company Limited ( NIDCO)’s Project Engineer for the Toco Port Facility, has granted Fishermen and Friends of the Sea (FFOS), NGO’s, primary stakeholders and fishers an extension of 2 weeks for the submission of comments for the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Toco Port. This two-week extension, until 3rd May 2018, is greatly welcomed as it would allow sufficient time for a well informed and meaningful “written public consultation”. The Public is advised to contact FFOS or visit the National Register for copies of the TOR and to submit their comments and concerns for this proposed project. This proposed Toco Port is traversing fourteen (14) environmentally impacting designated activities listed in the Certificate of Environmental Clearance (Designated Activities) Order (as amended). FFOS supports the building of the Toco Port and will continue to work with the EMA and the Ministry of Works and Transport in ensuring ALL Environmental Laws are upheld and our fisheries are protected whilst ensuring sustainable development for Toco.
Sincerely,
Gary Aboud
Corporate Secretary
